Silvia Santillo graduated in biological sciences (110 cum laude) and since 2001 she is a researcher at the Istituto di Scienze Applicate e Sistemi Intelligenti "E. Caianiello" (ISASI-CNR, Pozzuoli).

She is co-author of about 30 scientific publications, several chapters in book and co-editor of a book of the LNCS Series. She has served on local and scientific committees for several international conferences .

Her scientific interests are:

understanding how neurons process and transmit the information received to other neurons and the properties of their excitable membranes. (Publications)

Actually, she is investigating the sensitivity to semiconducting organic molecule in in vitro cellular models in order to define a possible role on the properties of excitable membranes and in inducing specific behavioural patterns in the small invertebrate Hydra. (Publications)

Other research interests have regarded:

The computational modeling of a glutamatergic excitatory synapse and the pre- and post-synaptic factors influencing the synaptic output,EPSP. (Publications)

The study of photomodulation of Hydra bioelectrical activity and molecular mechanisms of non-image phototransduction; (Publications)

The process of decision making in the perception of ambiguous patterns (Publications) HOME
